About Lesley
Professional Experience
Lesley has many years experience with counseling, family advocacy, and outreach. She is trained in systems theory and applies this in her extensive work with children and their families. Lesley is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Her specialty, ecotherapy approaches the natural world as guide and teacher and believes that it can mirror our psyches innate ability to move toward health and wholeness. Her work is the culmination of training in transpersonal psychology at John F. Kennedy University in Orinda , CA. and the apprenticeship training in wilderness rites of passage, earth-based healing practices and applied ecopsychology she completed in August of 2001. Lesley has both contributed articles, and edited professional journals in the field of psychology. She presents and holds workshops on Ecopsychology and Earth-based healing. Lesley believes that emotional and psychological health requires recognition of the transitions and cycles of all life.
On a Personal Note
As an Ecotherapist, I am in the process of reconnecting with the natural world, its plants, animals and minerals. I chose to live away from the urban landscape, making my home in rural West Marin on the shore of Tomales Bay. Each spring, I expectantly await the pair of migrating ospreys who nest, fish and raise their young on the shore of the bay before returning to Mexico . I watch very closely for the growth of the wild flowers. I anticipate the seasonal changes and witness the days growing in length and then shortening again. I acknowledge the equinoxes and solstices, and I feel the winds shift from the winter storms of the South to the summer fogs of the North, cooling the land from the summer heat. I am a child of the earth who feels deep in my bones, my connection to my home. My biggest joy is when my experience of I, of me, merges with the whole of everything else.
